What Would I Do Without You?

I love this sentiment--What Would I Do Without You--and thought it paired wonderfully with the Girlfriends stamp that I used here. In honor of the Memorial Day holiday, my project is in red, white, and blues and includes stars and stripes. After stamping this image in a waterproof dye ink, it was colored with Prisma watercolor pencils and blended with a blender pen. The white space of the main image was minimized by sponging Memento Summer Sky ink.

The inside of the card:

This card is a 5" square easel card. Easel cards are great because they fold flat for mailing but, once in the hands of the recipient, can be opened and displayed. The decorative ribbon and the button help to keep the card propped open.

Please be sure to take a moment today to remember the men and women who served in our armed forces and made the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect our country and our freedoms. Please, also, take a moment to think of the men and women currently serving in our armed forces. If you want to see another project today using QKR Stampede stamps, go to my blog here and see another project that I have done using the Relaxing Gnome stamp; just a little tease . . . that project is not a card. Thanks for stopping by today and spending some time with us here at QKR Stampede! Have a great day!

Hello!  Happy Friday and the start to a 3 day weekend if you are within the USA. Did you know that memorial day used to be called Decoration Day? The alternative name of "Memorial Day" was first used in 1882. It did not become more common until after World War II, and was not declared the official name by Federal law until 1967.  Just a little history for ya.

JennK here with you today to share another card I created with the train stamp.  I used this stamp on a fathers day card a few weeks ago.  I love the versatility of this image.  This time I tried something different and paired the stamp with some beach themed papers.  I gotta tell ya I am really pleased with the final result.
Here it is...what do you think?  I just LOVE the colors and the fact that this image looks great whether I color it in or not.  Next is a picture of the inside of the card.  I really like to finish the inside too.
I hope you have enjoyed my card and the little history lesson today.  Hopefully I showed how versatile this image can be.
Have a wonderful long memorial day weekend!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, JennK

N is for Night time...

Hi there! Hope you are all having a wonderful Thursday. This is Jessica here today with a cute little owl stamp to show you. Today I am straying from my norm a little bit with a scrapbook page instead of a card. I went to the CKC convention this past week, and found these adorable velum ABC sets. I decided to pick up the ABC's of my first year set...my thought...I WILL complete an entire album for my nephew by his 1st birthday...which is in November...lol. Yeah I really do need to start this early, or honestly I will never finish it. I am so slow with scrapbooking...lol. Well I was inspired to try this for my post this week by Jerusha. If you missed her post from Monday, scroll down and check out her adorable scrapbook page she posted. Well here is mine. Here is a little close up of this adorable Sleepy Owl stamp from the QKR Stampede Store.
Isn't he cute??!!! I started by putting the yellow moon on the background (I cut that with the cricut), and added the little stars around. I glued the velum saying across the top. I stamped this tired little owl on white CS, and colored him with colored pencils. I used pencils because I wanted a lighter/softer look since this is a baby album. I added some yellow stickles to the stars and to the owl's moon. I also added some crystal effects to his glasses for a glassy look. Last thing I did on this page was make a photo mat. I thought my SIL can add her own pictures to each page after I give them the album. Well that is all from me today. Be sure to check back often as us DT ladies are always posting new projects using QKR Stampede images. If you aren't a follower yet, be sure to sign up today!

Reliving Easter

Hi everyone, can you believe that it is almost June??? Wow this year is just flying by and there are days that I am feeling left behind.

Well you are going to be hearing from me a lot for a while as I have some getting caught up done.

Today I decided to do Easter layouts. On the LO with the Easter egg background, I used the Easter Bunny taking a bath. The background paper is from SEI and I made the basket and the butterfly. I colored my image with my Copics and added a little bling with the sticklers.

On the other page I used the bunny with a flower and also colored it with my copics and stickles. The background paper was bought at Michael's yrs ago. I have a few more Easter pics to scrapbook so you may see some more of them.

Gone Fishing

Good Morning! Well today I'm showing a Fathers Day card I made for a friend, I've wanted to play with my colored pencils, with some stamps. I feel that's the best way to go sometimes with stamps, I just love the way this turned out, I used my Derwert and Prisma pencil on this, After coloring, I went though my whole craft room to find the right embellishment, for the card, which actually was a pretty hard task for me... Since "Boy Type Cards" are not my specialty, although I am starting to enjoy making them because they challenge my creativity more, and I love our stamps and cant wait to get my new ones, This is the time where I will start my journey into making boy cards for a while so it's not as tuff on me when I try to make one.

Hugs Sarah,

Ps.
I just learned how to make a wood background, And I Can't wait to show it to everyone on Saturday. I hope you like my card. Until next time Have A Wonderful Week!

Wizard bear

A little late, but here is my "Saturday"-card ...

Though the name of the stamp (24002 Wizard bear - from QKR Stampede) seems a little "masculine", the pink fairy dress and painted fingernails turned this bear into an adorable female wizard :-)
Posted by Picasa

I used a sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches for the card.

Ride 'Em Cowgirl & Blog Hop Winner!

It's my turn to share with you today! Holly just used this stamp a few days ago on a card and it was just amazing! Today I thought I would show you how easy it is to create your own embellishment for a scrapbook page using the same stamp.

I had this old photo of my sister when she was about three years old, riding this pony. I thought it was cute and it reminded me of the awesome stamp, L:il Cowgirl. So I thought it would be fun to make my own embellishment for this layout:

It was so easy to do! I stamped and coloured the image, then ran it through my Cuttlebug using my Peony Nestabilities to cut it out. Then I used some of my colorbox chalk to ink the edges to coordinate with my patterned paper and the colours in my layout:

If you like to create layouts as well as cards, next time you're making one up think of how fun it would be to use a QKR Stampede stamp as an embellishment. It's a pretty cute one, if I do say so myself! And there are loads of great stamps in the store. Go on and check it out!

But before you do...I am sure you want to know who has won the prize for the Blog Hop! The winner of the fabulous $25 shopping spree (plus free shipping!) is Kristie Maynard! Congratulations to you! Just e-mail Meredith and let her know which stamps you have chosen and she will pop them in the mail for you!

Happy Stamping everyone!

Cowgirl on Rocking Horse

Did you have a rocking horse when you were little? I sure did. Mom says I used to rock on mine all the time til I was almost asleep and she would run to catch me before I fell off the rocking horse. LOL

This sweet image is called Lil' Cowgirl from QKR Stampede. I used some retired Stampin Up paper with this great peeled bark background with this card along with some hemp twine and rustic wooden buttons. The cowgirl image is colored with Copic markers, which took me less than 30 minutes to color, even with all the shading. Such a cute and fun image to color!

Turtle goes fishing

Hello there QKR fans!
Hope today finds you well!
Today I am sharing a card I made with the going fishing turtle #6605.
When I found out our theme for May was masculine cards -
I made sure I got some cute manly papers!
The background paper is from Cosmo Cricket.
Solid paper is from Bazzil.
I used my nestabilites labels four to create the centerpiece of the card.
I used my favorite colored pencil technique of coloring on a colored paper.
Here is turtle close up:
He is a fun image to work with.
Thanks for stopping by!
Be sure and keep checking back -
I hear our Design Team has a lot of ideas circulating!!

All About Gnomes . . .

. . . well, sort of! My card today features the Relaxing Gnome. I didn't know much about gnomes, but  have always found the images intriguing. So, before posting, I decided to learn a little bit about gnomes; I hope you don't mind my sharing. First written mention of gnomes is credited to 16th century Swiss Alchemist Paracelsus, who wrote that gnomes are "two spans high, very reluctant to interact with humans, and able to move through solid earth as easily as humans walk through air." A span is the distance from the tip of your thumb to your little finger when your hand is fully open and fingers spread apart. Tiny little guys, aren't they?!?! The Latin and Greek origins of the word gnome translate to mean "earth dwellers" and gnomes are depicted as often guarding mines and precious underground treasures. Gnomes started being used as statuaries in gardens in the 19th century and garnered the term, "garden gnomes." In modern literature, the gnome is often depicted as being a cunning character--an inventor of sorts. So, now that I've told you a little bit about gnomes, here is my project:

As you can see, this gnome is relaxing atop a mushroom--either that's a really big mushroom, or he's less than two spans high! So is he really just enjoying himself . . . relaxing and doing nothing, or is he scheming? I colored the Relaxing Gnome using my Prisma watercolor pencils, then blended with a blender pen. The image was cut and embossed with an oval Nestability die and sponged along the inner edge of the die with Memento Desert Sand ink. A little bit of ribbon was added to give the card contrast and texture.

And finally, just a quick reminder . . . if you have not participated in the "It's A Boy Thing" blog hop, you still have time. Be sure to go
here for details and to get started. There is a fantastic prize being offered to one lucky "Hopper" and a couple ways to earn more chances. Thanks for stopping by today and having a look! Have a GREAT day!

You Are My Sunshine

Hi there...it is Jessica here with you today. I hope you all have had a wonderful week so far. Ours has been the same ol' crazy schedule we always have...lol. Today I have a nice sunshiny card for you. I miss the sun...our weather here in Buffalo, NY went from really super nice to yucky again. We have a joke here that Buffalo is one of the only places that you can wear shorts and a winter coat all in the same day. You never really know what it is going to be like here. Well I am hoping for some sunshine again, so I thought this card might help. Isn't this Patchwork Sun stamp adorable?! I stamped it on white CS and colored with marker. I really wanted to use this PP you see, so I colored to coordinate with that. I added some stickles since it is a sunshine and needs to be sparkly...ha ha. Here is the inside of the card.

This sentiment stamp is also available in the QKR Stampede store. It is called My Sunshine and can be found HERE. I colored the little flowers to match the colors on the front.

Ok...now you all need to come back tomorrow for our 2nd DT Blog Hop! You will be able to hop on over to all the DT Ladies' blogs to see some great "masculine" cards. Our theme is "It's A Boy Thing". So be sure to stop by and see all the great creations we made for you.

Anniversary card

Hi this is Laralee and I cannot believe it has been 2 weeks already. I have had such a good time seeing all of the inspiration that the DT has posted. The gals have done such a great job and we all are so different so you all get a great variety.
I used the QKR Stampede teepee and Happy Anniversary stamps and boy do I LOVE them. I colored and shaded the teepee with my copics. The stamp on the inside of the card is an Indian wedding blessing and I just love it. I could not find t=what I wanted to say anywhere so I just wrote it out.
I did this card for my anniversary on the 20th of May to give to my husband. Hope he likes it. Have a great day everyone and watch for a BIG announcement coming soon.

Friends Are Flowers

Even though it is May, it seems to be raining a lot in my neck of the woods. After a week of rain, it can be pretty discouraging. So I thought I would spread some cheer with my card today!

For this card, I've used the Smiling Flowers stamp. It is so easy to colour and just brings a smile to your face! If only all flowers could smile at you, then every day would be a happy day!

I hope today is a nice, sunny, smiling day for you!

Which tie?

May is "masculine" month here at QKR Stampede. For today, I chose this "daddy-bear" - All tied up, who can't decide on which tie to wear. I followed the sketch at Pixie cottage with the additional challenge to make your own embellishment (don't you think it's an adorable tie???). Being so manly, the card also fits the "boys to men" challenge at Cute Card Thursday and Daring Cardmakers's "emerald" challenge.

Take The Plunge

Flower Pot Girl

It is in the 90's here in Texas and some of you folks up yonder are getting snow this week??? Crazy weather, I tell ya!!! LOL

We planted some flowers last week and this sweet image from QKR Stampede reminds me of the fun we had putting the flowers into the pots and setting them up by my front door. The name of this image is "Planting a Flower" - appropriate, huh?? I picked my papers first and then colored the image with Copic markers so that they matched the colors in the papers.

You could use this adorable image for a birthday card or a Mother's Day card or even a "just a note" type of card. Wouldn't it be fun to give this card away with some potted flowers to a dear friend or neighbor? I love to use images like this that can be used for so many different types of cards.

Gone Fishing! (re-post)

OOPS!
This post didn't get posted in the right spot,
so I am re-posting where it should be!
Hello from Minnesota! Barb Best here.
I was lucky enough to be one of the first recipients of my May stamps!
Color me happy!
My project today features the stamp 'fishing lure" # 20403.
Our Minnesota opener takes place in May,
so in celebration, my creations this month will be fishing related.

This little project I made for a friend of mine at work.
She is a fishing addict - to her, the fishing opener is a high holiday!
I thought she could use it at work for her out of office sign
 when she is 'Gone Fishing'

I started with a Bazzil chipboard luggage tag.
I took a light lavender piece of paper and embossed it with
 my Cuttlebug Herringbone embossing folder.
Then I cut out of darker purple a scalloped oval and embossed
that with the same embossing folder.
I cut a plain oval from white paper and stamped my lure in black ink.
I colored with colored pencils, a silver signo pen, and a black glaze pen.
I added a fish eye to make the lure look more real.

Then I covered the image in Glossy Accents and added some glitter for a little bling.
After is was dry - I stamped Gone Fishing (Memory Box) below the image.
I then rubbed some glittery chalk around the edges.
I tied two different ribbons on the handle.
Who says fishing can't be feminine?
Hope you enjoyed your visit!
Be sure and check out the other design team members blogs!
There are some cute things out there!
Gone fishing! Later!

Sailing Away

Happy Monday! Can you believe it's already the third of May?!? Carol, here, with another card created using the Large Ship stamp from QKR Stampede. I absolutely LOVE this image and can imagine so many creative possibilities.

This was my first time attempting this technique, but I just love how it turned out. Of course, it could stand a few little tweaks here and there, but overall, I am very pleased. I really love the look of the waves and how the ship looks as if it's being tossed about, and how the "water" glistens. In order to create this card, I sponged and brayered the ink colors (SU! Apricot Appeal, Barely Banana, Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, and Tempting Turquoise) and stamped the Large Ship using Jet Black StazOn ink. Glitter was added to enhance the glistening water. Thanks for stopping by and spending some of your morning with us here at the QKR Stampede blog. Have a wonderful day!
