I (heart) U

Hello blog fans!  Kristie sharing today.
Today's card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest.
Unfortunately, I don't know whose blog it came from,
so I can't give credit where credit is due.
If you recognize it, let me know and I will give credit.
Pop up cards are always fun and not nearly as hard to make as you'd think.
This one is a little tougher to figure out a template for, but it's really just a matter of cutting and folding.
On the front of the card I used
"I am Blessed" (#36313) and
"Swirl Heart" (#32402)
They are both stamped onto white cardstock, then I added some little self stick bling to the heart.
I used stones from a bling word that I found at one of the big box craft stores for a 50 cents. You know how they have them marked down sometimes, because they are names or words that no one buys?
I buy them and just use the individual pieces, they cut apart easily with a craft knife or scissors. So don't pass them up because your name isn't Yolanda, find the longest name or word you can find in the bin and pick them up cheap.
And here is the pop up inside of my card.
Isn't is cool?
Thanks for stopping by today, leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my card.
I'd love for you to stop at my blog, Kristie Kreates, and see what else I've been working on.
Then why not stop in to the Biblical Impressions online store
and see what great stamps you can find to go with a cool pop up card of your own?!?!

Super Simple Scripture Card

I'm posting today from Biblical Impressions.  I love this verse from Jeremiah 29:11 ... but it often is considered outside of its original context ... read the entire chapter of the book to get a fresh understanding of the scripture!  (I also went into more explanation on my blog). This verse is also found as a bookmark image, and Eureka also carries Jeremiah 29:11 - in fact, when "mentally designing" this card a few days before I went to make it, I actually had the Eureka version in mind, only to realize I didn't actually own it, lol!

Baby Carriage

I'm posting a card from Biblical Impressions today!  I have a bunch of babycards from when I used to sell cards, but all I have left are boy blue or girl pink cards. I forgot about this, until I went to grab a card from my stash for a baby shower last week. The couple has decided not to discover the baby's gender in advance. So, off to work I went!

Details: I stamped the small carriage image from Biblical Impressions four times (there is a larger size as well). I cut out the wheels from one set, colored the rims with black pencil, then used my versamark pen for the wheel hubs, and embossed in silver. I cut out the carriage body, sans wheels and the portion of the ribbon that is off the carriage, and colored teh blanket and lace. Then I cut the carriage out again, this time also eliminating the lace and the blanket. This step could be skipped, but I wanted the extra layer. I used a slightly textured cardstock for the ribbon to give it a more fabric-like look. I assembled the pieces, and attached to the circle. The Psalm127:3 scripture was simply stamped with black.

In all honesty, this was a very time consuming card ... not because the card itself was that difficult, but I just kept smearing black ink or pencil on the white suraces!  I forgot my habit of keeping a wet baby wipe on hand to keep rubbing my fingers on while working with color on white!  Additionally, the spellbinder die was a nightmare to work with. Note to self: anytime purchasing a new set, I need to immediatley test all dies while I still have the return receipt! I used another die in the set a couple of months ago with no problem, but this one ... wow!  Kristie just gave me a tip on this: use waxed paper between the die and the paper and it will come out a lot easier. I will try this next time.  However, just to give you ideas in case this doesn't work, I'll still post the pictures I took of what I did:

As you see, three corners were torn off in the effort to extract the piece.

After that one, I thought I would try again, this time with some very strong cardstock I have. The results were just slightly better.  I cut it down to this, I thought I'd show it as it looked before weaving the ribbon through:

I went back to the first one, to show you two other possibilities I could have done.  I decided it looked a bit weird, so I trimmed it down more, but for a different style card, it might have worked (notice I trimmed the little side nobs on one end):

Celebrate

Welcome!  Kristie here.
I'm working on those Christmas cards again!
Today I have a Christmas card that I made using
"Round Ornament" (#83405)
I stamped the image onto red cardstock and cut out only the ornament part of the image. I used a silver pen to color in the top and design on the ornament and a bit of embroidery floss for the bow.
I have had this printed vellum in my stash for ages, I have always loved it, but just never found a project to use it on.
So glad I pulled it out for this card!
This picture shows the pine sprigs on the vellum a little better.
I thought the pine sprigs were a perfect background for the ornament.
I had the 'celebrate' bling in my stash and thought it would be a nice festive touch for the card.
Well, one more down in my quest to get my Christmas cards done early!
Hope you enjoy it and have gotten some inspiration here.
There are loads of great Christmas stamps at Biblical Impression, why not check them out and join me in trying to get some of those cards done early?!?!
Thanks for checking in. Leave a comment and become a follower if you will and come back soon to see what else our design teams are working on these days.

Wow, July 4th already?

I'm Sarosa (aka Sarah Kornhaus), and am happy to present a couple of images from Biblical Impressions today.

Is America a Christian Nation? Was it ever? I don't believe the majority of the founding fathers saw it that way. What they did see was the need for a nation in which one could worship as one wished, and Christian principles were used in much of the decision making. Or perhaps a better way to phrase it is that the Christian principles by which most of the founding fathers lived by strongly influenced their thinking. To be sure, many were deists, but the Patrick Henry quote indicates that many were dedicated Christian believers.

After stamping the flag background, I filled in the lines with H20 watercolors. I actually did this part a couple of years ago, but didn't really like the effect. But when I looked at it this week, I decided that it would work well as a background for the text. I stamped on vellum with blue Stazon, and after gluing and burnishing, placed it under weights for about 48 hours to make sure I would not see the vellum curl up on itself down the road.

Baby Shower

Simple Scripture card

I love when elegance and simplicity come together in a card!  The background is a darker beige than what you see here, and keeps the card from being too dark.  The Romans 15:13 scripture was embossed in gold. The gorgeous, dimensional background is from a wallpaper sample book.  Our local Sherwin Williams is always happy to pass these on to customers.  I think someone has an "in" with one of the employees, because certain themes have always been gone when I get there, and I usually get there immediately after they say they remove the books from the shelves!  Fortunately, the really elegant themes, and sometimes really amazing textured themes, are usually left.  I have made journals as well with this particular pattern, and they've been the first to sell.  I also have covered shoe boxes with wallpaper.  It strengthens the box, as well as making it a decorative item, and one that easily wipes clean.

Picking Dandelions

Hello!
Kristie here and I'm so happy be helping
Ceal out with a post of a card she created.
Ceal isn't able to post right now, but she did make this adorable card for me to share with you.
Isn't this little gal cute?
Ceal used "Picking Dandelions" (#31702) from Biblical Impressions
to make this card and was inspired by the thought that summertime is just around the corner.
I think she did a wonderful job coloring this cute little gal.
What says summer more than picking dandelions?

And why not pop on over to the Biblical Impressions site and see what
images you can find that conjure up summertime.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Come again soon!
Happy Summer!

Geometric Fun II

As I mentioned in my last post for Biblical Impressions, I have two more designs made from the suncatcher images. I love doodling geometric designs,so despite not being into suncatchers (Native American religious symbols), I find the design wonderful for playing with.

The first thing I made with the 16 pt. suncatcher image was this flower. If you look at the original image, you can see where I cut for the petals, and where I cut for the leaves. You'll need to emboss it four times to come up with enough to cut from. Each petal layer is a single piece (2 total), though certainly you could cut out individual petals (though you'd need additional embossed images)for a more layered and perhaps more elegant look. I placed the thank you on white mulberry paper just because the card "needed" something.

The idea of making a butterfly is what motivated me to order the 8 pt. suncatcher. It certainly could be made with just one pattern, but I liked the idea of using the more angled image for the lower wings. I thought I would just create my own butterfly body, but I really am hopeless when it comes to forming shapes with pencil or scissors, so I simply used the body from Eureka's 3-D butterfly pattern. It's a little short, but the best I could do! The Proverbs 3:5,6 image is a bookmark stamp; Biblical Impressions carries a number of scriptures in this great style.

Geometric fun!

I got my first suncatcher stamp in a fabulous grab bag special years ago from Biblical Impressions. I had never heard of suncatchers, so did not recognize what it was, just thought it was a neat geometric design. And although I have since heard of them, and confess I do not care to use the stamps as such, I still love the creative ideas they generate.

I made a batch of impressions of the 16 pt. suncatcher, embossing all with silver and went to work. After the first idea I had (and will post next time, actually), I decided, as the suncatchers come in four levels of "depth," that I would order the 8 pt. suncatcher. A flower was an obvious shape to make with the stamp, and I filled in with H20's. While I had planned to make a card with it, my eyes happen to light upon this little trinket box, and although the green was not a perfect match, the image looked perfect on it.  I haven't permanently attached it yet, but when I do, I will use  foam dots to give it a 3D look.

With the 8pt. design, A star seemed the obvious design. I embossed the image several times, embossing some in silver and some in gold. I then embossed the Psalm 36:5 scripture in gold. The panel is Yuzen Washi paper.

Next time I post for Biblical Impressions, I will have two other, very different cards made with the same stamps.

Wedding card

I wish I had a camera that could have given a better idea of the almost 3D shimmer of the wallpaper I used for the background, it's really gorgeous. The text, which I embossed in gold, is available in both English and Spanish.I used a chalk ink for the English and Spanish.I used a chalk ink for the bouquet.

Hi there!  Today I wanted to share a card I made using the Faith Hope stamp from Biblical Impressions.  This stamp is actually one big stamp, but I cut it into 4 sections.
As you can see, I went with a long card this time.  I cut each part of the stamp apart, and layered onto the base.  I did some paper piecing for the flower pots, and colored the rest of the image with marker.
For the watering can, I used some liquid pearl (as you can see from above).  Last I hand wrote the sentiment on using a marker.
Well that is all from me for now.  Have a great Monday!

Butterfly mania!

I went a little crazy with the images from the Dragonflies full sheet from Biblical Impressions!  This first card has the large butterfly.  I embossed with Purple Pastel gold leaf, then painted in with H2Os.  The cardstock I used has a slightly bumpy texture, which in turn gives the gold leaf a bumpier appearance.  I like the effect!

For the shadow butterfly, I used irridescent mica powders.  I used a paintbrush to apply the color in splashes, then when fiinished, gently used the brush back and forth over the whole panel to get every area coated.  If you look closely at the edges, you will see a slightly smudged look: I handled this too soon after embossing.  Unlike gold leaf and embossing powders, mica powders need to be left for awhile to "set" before cutting.  I hadn't used these in a long time and had forgotten.

Here is a picture that includes all four of the butterfly images ... do I have an obsession with embossing??? ;-) I think Biblical has a stamp that says something like, "so many stamps, so little time;" I think I would reword that to "so many techniques, so little time!" at least for these stamp images!   Note that the shadow butterfly shown  here is a more accurate rendering than the photo above.  By the way, if you look at the medium butteflies, embossed on dark green, blue, and red marbled cardstock in the upper right corner, there are a few spots of chipped gold embossing.  This is because I did not trim them right after embossing.  On glossy cardstock, both gold leaf and embossing powders get dryer as time passes, and so will flake off when cut.  However, shortly after embossing, there is still enough moisture to keep this from happening.

Baby Love...

Happy Hump day to you! This is Jessica B. today with a card for Biblical Impressions. First let me say this whole card was WAY out of my comfort zone!!....I will give ya a look and then explain.

.

See..isn't this VERY different for me? LOL

I did enjoy the whole designing process of it though. I don't normally use patterned paper..because quite frankly it intimidates me! HA! However for this card I knew that to utilize the stamps the way I wanted..I was going to have to go out of MY box.

I started by stamping this sweet baby block stamp onto light grey card stock. Then I used a few various colored pencils to add a little life to them. I was going for a vintage look and also wasn't some dimension because this stamp really lends itself to that. I cut the "blocks" out and use the larger end of a stylus and embossed the letters and a few other places for dimension ( I used my mouse pad as a cushion for the embossing), and then sanded them with a thick black nail file to distress them)  Then I stamped the cute little stuffed animals on some scrap white card stock, colored with colored pencils , distressed with the file, then used some white Flower Soft to add some "fluffiness" to them.

Next I picked out some patterned paper that i felt resembled vintage wall paper..I LOVE this paper..it has been hoarded in my stash for ever.so it was time to cut it. Next I used some cream colored ribbon and cream colored  card stock for the bottom portion of the "wall"( I adhered the ribbon  underneath the cream paper).I also wanted to make a self-like scene ( there I go making "scene" again HAHA!)..so I found some brownish wood looking paper, cut a strip, then layered a piece of pink patterned paper that I cut the swirly boarder to follow the pattern in the paper. THEN, I used a punch to make that little doily looking strip that I cut out of vellum because I wanted it on the "shelf"

Now, after all of that :), I popped the blocks up on dimensionals, and added the stuffed animals with two dimensionals ( on top of each other).
Next I tied the bow and took the picture.

here is a close-up side-view of the "bocks "

Whew...it sounds like a lot and it really may be the way I explained all of it LOL ! I am not used to that many steps in a card..ya know, I usually just color!

Ok, that is it for me today!! I hope you are having a fantastic day today..and a wonderful rest of your week! Thanks for stopping by!

Recycling!

My seven year old niece, Kristen, has begun writing to me, and the first time I was able to find a card appropriate for a little one.  But the few kid/cute cards I have are primarily for birthday occasions; it's not my favorite kind of card to make.  I have been swamped, especially with my final papers/exams for college before my one week break (in just a few days, hurrah!), but I've put off responding for too long.  Today I had a short free spot of time, so I whipped through my stashes of card "parts" and came up with these. The card was clearly from my earliest days of cardmaking; I always back paper panels with another cardstock panel before attaching now. Additionally, I always, at least until I stopped making cards to sell, hid the prongs of my brads behind the panel, and the brads on this card were straight through it.  The God Keeps His Promises image had an ink smudge on it, so I had never used it, but didn't want to pitch it.  Perfect for a child!

So, I just switched brads, and made a quick panel to go behind the ark. Card in just a minute or two ... if only it could always be so quick!

I decided to post a card I made with the Spanish version of this image.  Did you know that Biblical Impressions carries Christian Spanish stamps? In fact, it was in searching for Christian Spanish stamps eight or ten years ago that I discovered Biblical Impressions!

Little Bees

Ok...so how many of us own stamps of bugs...and love them...however if we see the real thing we completely freak out? Yeah you know it is true...lol. I know I am terrified of real bugs, but I love the stamps. Which is one of the reasons I picked these cute little bees from Biblical Impressions. See...cute...but the real thing would make me freak. These are actually 2 different stamps. The Honeybee comes in 2 stamps so you can get him facing either direction. I stamped them off on cream CS, and fussy cut them out. Next I layered them onto some floral PP from my stash. For this one, I used some cream ribbon scraps and added a knot. Then layered the bees on using pop-dots. For this one, I used a sticker for a sentiment, and then pop-dots to put the bees on.

Both very simple, but they are actually gift enclosure size (3x3). Perfect for a summer gift!

I will follow you...

Hello! Happy weekend. I sure hope it is a pretty one where you are!

This is Jessica B. here today for Biblical Impressions, and I have what is to date one my most favorite projects. You all know how I like to make "scenes" right?? Well here is one that I LOVE!

Isn't that pretty?? Here is a close-up..

I live on the coast and adore aquatic scenes ans stamps..with turtles being one of my most favorite..

Ok..here is the scoop..This may sound complicated..but it really wasn't. It was a bit time consuming in that it took a while to plan out and execute ! First I used three different stamps ...I used this fab Sea Turtle, then I used the Sea Weed, and finally I used these rocks. ( now you may notice that I "lost" some of the rock forms..but that is ok)

First up, I stamped the turtle on scrap paper and cut it out for a mask. Then I stamped them in SU! Old Olive on water color paper. Next I masked one turtle and stamped the sea weed, then stamped the rocks...to "ground" the images. I also only inked up one rock to make the rock on the right of the scene.

The rest is pretty self explanatory...I started painting. I used a mixture of Inktense and water color pencils. I did go back in with Prismacolor pencils and OMS to get some of the darker values..and to create the water and shadows...

Next, I just cut and matted it..I will be framing this for my bathroom as the greens are perfect for it.

Well that is it for me today..thanks for looking and I  hope you are having a great weekend!

Blessed are the Peacemakers

This dove background stamp makes a beautiful image without any coloring at all, and so, a very simple card. However, I wanted to do some coloring ... well, some coloring ended up being coloring everything!

I stamped the image with Brilliance blue, and used chalks and colored pencils. The "makers" does not stand out well, so I darkened the letters with pencil. It's not visible, but I used a little grey chalk on the dove.
